Paulina Allen, LMHC

Paulina is a licensed mental health counselor and EMDR trained psychotherapist who uses mind-body techniques to help clients resolve inner traumas and break free from survival mode. Paulina believes that feeling stuck or hopeless are signals that our survival response is engaged. She understands the amount of emotional and nervous system overwhelm that can be triggered in this state and employs specific therapeutic techniques to engage each part of the brain’s unique healing abilities.

Paulina earned her Master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling from Florida Atlantic University and began her counseling career working in a domestic violence shelter. She has also worked extensively in the field of addiction and most recently as the lead therapist at a facility specializing in the treatment of co-occurring substance abuse and trauma. Paulina utilizes Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing along with other evidence-based therapies to empower her patients to tap into their own healing capabilities so they can gain freedom from trauma, anxiety, poor self-esteem, unsatisfying relationships, and depression.

A wise professor once told Paulina to “always be curious” and she continues to implement that advice into her professional and personal life. Always a student, she is continuously learning about new research and techniques in the field of psychotherapy and tries to always say “yes” to exploring new opportunities. Most recently she took up snowboarding and fly fishing and is humbled (or frustrated; if you’ve ever learned to snowboard, you know) by the practice of being a beginner. Paulina most enjoys time spent in nature, is an avid hiker and has hiked many spots across the U.S. as well as Northern Europe and South America

Our staff will greet you with a smile.
